Social Media Tips
1. Make sure that your social media presence is professional and employable.2. ...but make sure that your personality shines through!
3. Profile and Cover photos should be professional, such as a company logo or a simple portrait.
4. Potential employers, professors, etc. WILL look up your social media accounts. In fact, in most states employers can even ask for your passwords.
5. Privacy settings are not fool-proof. Make sure to check and update settings frequently.
6. Pick a tone or a topic that interests/represents you (i.e. Sports, Entertainment, Politics) and stick with it.
7. Do not use profane language or post obsene photos (even if they are not of yourself).
8. Think of your social media presence as your "self-package"
9. Use hashtags with caution. Don't overuse and/or abuse them.
10. The rule of thumb is: If you don't want grandma to see it, don't post it.
